Heart-Centered Yoga for the Body, Mind, & Soul
I offer a ritual space for the body to unfurl, the mind to quiet, and the soul to be experienced.
Rooted in the devotional traditions of Bhakti Yoga, my approach is heart-centered, honoring yoga as a practice of cultivating deeper relationship with ourselves, one another, the Divine, and life itself. Devotion, in this sense, is an orientation toward life—an invitation to meet our experience with reverence, curiosity, and an open heart.
Drawing upon nearly two decades of study and practice in yoga, Indian spiritual traditions, and Jungian depth psychology, I weave together slow, soulful movement, stillness, breath, sacred sound, yoga philosophy, and contemplative wisdom.
My classes are an invitation to turn inward, to listen more deeply, and to encounter the subtler dimensions of our being. Through movement, reflection, and ritual, I hope to create a space where the body is honored, the heart is opened, and the soul is given room to speak.
My Journey with Yoga
My journey with yoga began with heartbreak in 2009, while studying anthropology as an undergraduate at UCLA. What began as an exploration of the physical practice as a way of tending to a broken heart, gradually unfolded into something much deeper. I found myself drawn to yoga's rich philosophical and spiritual traditions and their profound wisdom concerning the nature of human suffering, the search for meaning, and the possibility of transformation.
In 2011, I completed my first yoga teacher training at Bhakti Yoga Shala under the guidance of Govind Das, studying Bhakti Vinyasa Flow and the devotional practice of kirtan. My desire to deepen my understanding of these traditions eventually led me to become a member of the inaugural cohort of Loyola Marymount University's Master of Arts in Yoga Studies program, where I had the privilege of studying under the guidance of Dr. Christopher Key Chapple. My studies encompassed not only the embodied practices of yoga, but also Sanskrit, Indian philosophy, and the sacred texts that have shaped the yogic traditions, including the Vedas, Upanishads, Bhagavad Gita, and Yoga Sutras of Patañjali. This immersion deepened my appreciation of yoga as a rich and multifaceted spiritual tradition, one that extends far beyond the physical postures with which it is so often associated in the modern West.
Over the years, my studies have also included Yin Yoga with Denise Kaufman, Vinayasa Krama with Srivatsa Ramaswami, prenatal yoga, and explorations of the Himalayan and Sivananda yoga traditions, both in India and the United States.
These varied experiences, together with my studies in Jungian psychology, continue to inform an approach to teaching that honors yoga as both an embodied practice and a profound path of spiritual inquiry.
